My Blog

I try to post photos on a regular basis on my blog. It’s sometimes just one photo, and sometimes several on one subject. The subjects depend on where I am and what I am working on. Come back and visit often or subscribe to get an email whenever I post something new.

Vallon des Etançons

To and from the Refuge du Châtelleret in the Vallon des Etançons, in the Parc National des Ecrins. You cannot guess where the refuge is in the massive mountains on the first photo, but it's there!

You can try to see the refuge in the middle, about 1/3 from the bottom, just at the limit of the snow, if you enlarge the photo. It looks like a pebble but it holds 68 people, so this gives you a sense of scale.

On the way back. Note on both photos that there is a lot of debris on the snow. This is a pretty active area in terms of rock falls. We heard several in the distance while we hiked.
